Fed: Friday make or break day for FTA talks

CANBERRA, Feb 4 AAP - Friday is looming as the make-or-break day for an Australia-United
States free trade deal as talks in Washington slowed almost to a halt today.
Trade Minister Mark Vaile and his US counterpart Robert Zoellick spent six hours in
talks, but officials from both sides were unable to say negotiations had progressed far.
US manufacturers urged the Bush administration to wrap up the trade deal, with or without
concessions on agriculture.
