Qld: Calm conditions soften king tide blow
BRISBANE, Jan 11 AAP - Calm surf conditions today helped limit the impact of king tides
on south-east Queensland beaches.
The tides of between 1.5m and 2.5m inundated low-lying areas around river mouths and
eroded precious sand from beaches.
However, Surf Life Saving Queensland regional development officer Peter Dawes said
the Gold Coast had "pulled up pretty well".
"The tides have been fairly good here but there hasn't been the big surf so we're getting
away with it," Mr Dawes said.
