Customs officers were told their lives were in danger if they continued to try and search a Syrian passenger, according to testimony at the Dubai Court of First Instance. The student, 22, was travelling through the airport in September last year when he was stopped. "When I start searching him he refused and started yelling," one of the Customs inspectors said.
"He said that he had drugs in his case and would rip open the neck of the person who searched the bag.
"He said: 'I will kill the person who searches my bag I will cause a disability for the person who searches me'."
He is alleged to have continued mocking the officers, saying neither the Dubai or Syrian police had the authority to search him. After his arrest no drugs were found in his belongings. The suspect denies threatening the officers
and the trial continues.
