Qld: Beazley calls on Howard to front AWB inquiry and explain

KIM BEAZLEY says the Cole inquiry's terms of reference will protect JOHN HOWARD from
accountability .. if he's asked to give evidence.

Commissioner TERRENCE COLE has asked the PM to provide a written statement by 4pm (AEST)
tomorrow .. and there's a possibility he could be called to give evidence.

MR BEAZLEY says it's now clear the AWB scandal goes all the way to the top .. and it's
vital MR HOWARD forgoes what he calls the inquiry's rorted terms of reference.

He says unless the terms of reference are changed the truth will never be known.









Trade Minister MARK VAILE will appear before the inquiry later today .. while Foreign
Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER will appear tomorrow.
